Durango Mountain Pine Snake Adult. This Durango Mountain Pine Snake is unusual in that it sports a red head and nuchal area - a very common Pd.jani trait. Though red heads do occur from time to time they are definitely unusual in P.d.deppei. One could speculate that red heads were a common trait when ancestral deppei populations were not split by the Mexican Plateau. This specimen sports a really cool red tail as well. |
